What is PLYO?
PLYO is short for Plyometrics. Plyometrics is when you add speed and strength together in your workout. The goal is to create a maximum force in a minimum amount of time. Examples of this are jumping, sprints, jumping rope, push-ups, hopping and etc.
Plyometric training is great for increasing speed, agility, and power. This is perfect for performing your sprints faster, jumping higher and changing directions more quickly. You will find this type of training with football, soccer, basketball and short distance track players.
You do not have to be in a sport to receive the benefits of plyometric training. It can help you burn more fat! You will be boosting your metabolism. This will allow you to continue burning calories long after your workout.
The Workout
Superset #1:
1) Front Dumbbell Squats 4 sets of 15 reps
2) Box Jumps 4 sets of 20 reps
Superset #2:
1) Reverse Lunge 4 sets of 15 reps each side
2) Jumping Lunges 4 sets of 20 reps each side
Superset #3:
1) Step Ups 4 sets of 15 reps each leg
2) 180 Jump Squats 4 sets of 20 reps
